BLOGGING PROJECT

I do not like blogging. I do not do it in my personal life so I have not liked it as part of this course. I do not understand the purpose. We write stuff but we all write with mistakes so we read more mistakes. this does not help us make progress in our language learning. I think it is a big mistake to show people things that have mistakes. All it does is make them confused.
For sure, there should not be marks for this. If people like it they should do it but for those like me who do not like it there should be no marks. I also think we have enough homework to do without this.

Sincerely yours,

Abdullah A. Baroum

Reading and Question Answers

For the article, "Physical Interpersonal Relationships and Social Anxiety Among Online Game Players"the question about the "real me" I thought was the most interesting one. These "real me" people are defined by the person that they are on the internet, not by the person who they really are in their real life. These people have big problems figuring out who they really are in the real world. They have problems with social anxiety since they spend most of their time with their cyber friends rather than with the real people. They do not have stress or anxiousness when they are on the internet but they sure do when they are in real life situations. The "real me" for those people is the person who they are when they are on the internet.

For the article, "Wired to Another World" I thought the interesting question was the one that asked about addiction and the comparison of being addicted to gambling and video games. The answer was that those two addictions are similar because they are both strong in positive and negative rewards. Both also provide the user with pleasure and excitement. The difference is that the results of video game addictions are not as serious as for gambling. In gambling there is often the losing of a lot of money. The money lost in video games is the cost of playing the games.

RP questions and answers.

I learned to get better organized while i was doing the research paper, i learned how to do a reference page which was technically very difficult. But most importantly i learned about citing the ideas of other people to show that i borrowed there information. I think this is the most important thing to learn because i hear my university friends talking about plagiarism, which is this kind od cheating and i dont want to have that kind of problem at the university.

I feel very good about my paper because i think it looks good and also has very good information.

If i had the chance to start over I would not. I liked my research and i liked my topic and in the end i think I produced a good paper and made a good presentation for the class to enjoy. My presentation was based on my paper so i feel good about the paper.

Population

I was hoping that other people would have written something on this topic so that I could see what they said. I would prefer to respond to what other people say but this time I guess I have to be the first. I have to do this now because I am going to work on the research project for the rest of the day.
Population is not something I ever thought very much about. I don't know if there is much to be hopeful about. I see this topic as a negative when I think of it. There are so many people on the earth already. I don't think we need more. The more people there are, the less food there is and the less water there is for them. Soon we will have so many people and there will not be enough food or water for them. This problem needs to be solved by poor countries not having so many children. They need to learn about birth control so there are fewer babies in those places. Rich countries do not have families with big numbers of children. In the end I really see this population as a problem more than anything else.

Life of Pi

This was a wierd novel. This first part seems nonsensical when you are reading it but when you finish the book you understant the fantasy ideas in the first part. Understanding the real story of Pi and his mother in the life boat makes you understand why he made up the fantasy so that he would not think about the way that his mother died. I enjoyed the part of the book where Pi was finding God. In that section I really thought you could learn something. I learned to respect all religions because really they all have the same God. I think that is what Pi found too. I also liked the symbols Yan Martel used with the animals to replace the people in the story. He did a really good job with that. Overall I didn't like the story because I thought it was cruel and too unbelievable.
My group had to work most of the time without me because I was sick but I think I helped with the pictures of the animals that I found. Also I think I helped because I was able to explain the real story of the shipwreck and how the people were in the boat and not animals. In the end I was happy with the presentation of the group. Everyone did their best to make a good presentation.
